Go boldly into new territory with this Buffalo Soldiers tee, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the creation of the National Park System and the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Buffalo Soldiers. Established by Congress in 1866, the Buffalo Soldiers were the first peacetime all-African American regiments in the U.S. Army. In the early 1900s, Buffalo Soldier troops from the 9th Cavalry and 24th Infantry were garrisoned in the Presidio of San Francisco and traveled hundreds of miles on horseback to Yosemite, Sequoia and General Grant National Parks. There, they built the first trail to the top of Mount Whitney and constructed the arboretum in Wawona, which is now considered to be the first museum in a U.S. National Park. Wear it when adventuring near and far.
