With the opening of a shop dedicated to all-day eggs last month, we had the distinct feeling that we weren’t alone in our undying love of brinner. At Egg Shop, they’ve turned humble yolks and whites into a solid menu served from morning ‘til midnight (and 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.) They’ve run the gamut from a build-your-own egg sandwich to mode decadent options like “The Beast,” a layering of pulled pork carnitas topped with a sunny-side-up egg, fresh cilantro, pickled onions and chipotle-bourbon ketchup on a French hero. Yes, we could eat that all day, indeed.

This all got us pondering our favorite ways to relive the most important meal of the day long after the sun’s already gone down. Hungry for more (and lusting for pulled pork) we surveyed the nighttime landscape for some of the best brinners around. Behold, breakfast lovers, our top four go-to dishes:

Pancakes at Clinton Street Baking Company – When a place actually has a section on their menu called “Breakfast for Dinner,” you know they mean business. And when a place has an entire month (!) dedicated to pancakes, you know they really, really love breakfast. Every February, Clinton Street Baking Company dreams up some of the best pancake flavors known to man — we’re lookin’ at you three, Blueberry Crumb Streusel, Swedish Apple and German Chocolate — but any time of year at this Lower East Side restaurant is the perfect time for brinner. The menu always has favorites like Chicken and Waffles, the Country Breakfast and, of course, Pancakes with Warm Maple Butter.

Literally Any Breakfast at Big Daddy’s – Big Daddy’s is the kind of place that you don’t expect to find in New York City. Sure, we’ve got plenty of diners. But this local chainlet always serves up an imaginative menu that begets heaping amounts of food while you stare up at the spastic amount of vintage decor along the walls. Oreo pancakes? Boozy brunch served any day (or time) of the week? An omelet named “Bosom Buddies”? All hail the long line of brinners you can get — alongside a massive milkshake taboot.

Biscuits & Gravy at Pies ‘n’ Thighs – This South Williamsburg spot is a go-to for so many things in our lives (read: juicy fried chicken, apple pie and eating our feelings). But one of our constant favorites is the always-heavenly chicken biscuit. It's fresh-baked, fluffy and downright delicious. For the exceptionally ravenous come brinner-time, order up this bad boy with a side of sausage gravy and you’ll be ready for bed...immediately.

Chilaquiles at Tortilleria Nixtamal– Though it’s further away than our other brinners, this one is highly worth the trek to Corona. Underneath a delicious coating of salsa, crema, fresh pico de gallo and fried eggs, the base for any plate of satisfying chilaquiles is a layer of perfectly crisped slices of tortilla — and Tortilleria Nixtamal is the place to go for exactly that. From the soft masa in the tamales to the incredibly fresh tortillas they’re rollin’ out for taco trappings, these guys are the masters of corn. Order the chilaquiles rojos or verdes, depending on your sauce preference, then crunch your way through this like there is no breakfast tomorrow.
