Things that are better straight from the source: spring water (supposedly); news (and/or gossip); your spring cocktails. That last one is most important. And since Brooklyn is now teaming with a slew of fancy new distilleries, we figured why not go straight to said sources and get some spring time tippling ideas from the folks actually making your hooch.
Thus, drink recipes from the folks of:
Industry City Distillery (Vodka)
This is a variation on the classic Brooklyn cocktail made with ICD vodka instead of whiskey.
1 1/2 oz Industry City Distillery Vodka
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1/4 oz Bittermens Amère Nouvelle (Amer Picon is also good)
1/4 oz Luxardo Maraschino
Shake and pour over ice.
New York Distilling Co. (Gin)
700 Songs Gimlet
1.5 oz Perry's Tot - Navy Strength Gin
.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.50 oz Simple Syrup
.25 oz Cinnamon Syrup
Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
The Noble Experiment (Rum)
Owney's NYC Rum
Spiced Pinapple Syrup
Fresh Lemon Juice
Combine ingredients in a shaker. Pour over ice.
Breuckelen Distillery (Gin & Whiskey)
The Tom O’Connell
3 parts Glorious Gin
2 parts fresh squeezed lime juice
1 part simple syrup
5 fresh thyme leaves
Combine first three ingredients and mix well. Pour over ice, top with soda water, and garnish with thyme leaves.
In a glass, of course! Ok, ok: a splash of water or an ice cube if you must.
